In pursuit of the purposes of these regulations as provided in this chapter, the city
may modify their application in the case of a proposed subdivision of innovative or
unconventional design. For purposes of this section, an innovative subdivision may
include a subdivision designed for townhomes, multiple-family residential projects,
or other building groups such as a shopping center, office park, industrial park,
or a development of regional impact.
